First and foremost, here's a list of the chair lines being discontinued...
- Arti
- Citi Connector
- Echo
- Finch
- Flexon
- Granada with Schukra
- Jarvis
- Key
- Mallorca
- Maxima II
- Obusforme
- Obusforme Executive
- Rest
- Savoir
- Scale 1, 2, 3
- Shadow
- Stamina
- Troy
- Vaughan
- Yorkdale
Needless to say, this is a lot of chairs. One collection that we'll truly miss is Arti. This line of auto responding office chairs was a staff favorite. Arti chairs made it easy to sit posture perfect without the need for constant adjusting. These popular ergonomic chairs with articulating backs were simply ahead of their time.
Another chair line that will surely be missed is Echo. These ultra comfortable chairs were great for all day computing. They packed a major ergonomic punch with ample padding and user friendly features. All things considered, Global currently crafts more advanced chairs at lower price point. While Echo will be missed, other excellent options remain from this industry leader. Echo chairs simply lacked the trendy looks needed to sell in today's modern office seating world.
In addition to ergonomic computer chairs, Global is also saying goodbye to the fashionable guest chairs from their Rest collection. This line of modern seating was a big hit for reception area remodeling projects when it was first introduced more than 5 years ago. The rest collection stood the test of time, but now it's time to put them to bed. We'll definitely miss the bar stools and nesting training chairs from this line.
In all honesty, we're a bit confused as to why the Shadow seating line is getting the axe. This collection of executive office chairs from Global has been around for awhile, but it's still up to date with the latest trends. Shadow chairs are extremely comfortable and equally bold.
We loved the Yorkdale seating series from Global, but we're not really surprised that it's getting discontinued. These chairs simply never gained the traction they deserved. It just goes to show, chairs that don't have eye popping design characteristics typically don't stand the test of time. While this line of practical ergonomic computer chairs provides excellent ergonomic benefits, it simply lacked the wow factor needed to generate staying power in a market filled with cutting edge seating.
If you're familiar with any of these office chairs, you're probably looking for a little good news. Rest assured, we've got you covered. Of the lines mentioned above, collections like Finch, Flexon, and Key will be available in select models within the Offices To Go brand (Global's sister company).
There's more good news coming out of the Global camp. More new chairs are on the way. Saying goodbye to these collections was strategic. Global is gearing up to make 2018 a year to remember. In just the past few months we've seen fashionable new office chairs like Spritz and Novello hit the scene. We fully expect 5 to 10 more new releases this year to make up for the models lost.
In a world where the demand for cutting edge chairs is at an all time high, we're sad to see this many classics get discounted. That said, we couldn't be more excited for the future. Global always pushes the limits of innovation and what they have on the horizon is nothing short of impressive.
